Weekly Library Run
This week we have several books that my boys can to choose from our weekly library run. As always they DO NOT have to choose any of them. But I like to offer them new books each week. There is usually picture books, non-fiction books, and chapter books. My oldest likes non-fiction books and my youngest isn’t a strong reader yet, so I try to offer a few that he might pick up to read by himself or a graphic novel.
Here are the books that I picked up for our weekly library run…
The Shrew Detective: The case of the pilfered pearls

Minerva Shrew dreams of solving the great mysteries of the universe, but she soon finds herself facing a much more urgent problem. When a string of pearls disappears from a human house, the owner blames the local rodents and plans to call exterminators. With her friends’ lives in danger, Minerva must work with her cousin Tenacity to uncover the real thief before it’s too late.
Sherlock Roach and the Case of the Crunchy Crumb

This is not a book I will read aloud to them. I have a roach phobia. But I still picked up the book for them to explore.
Detective Sherlock Roach and his best friend, Dr. Wormston, set out to solve the mystery of a missing crumb. As they follow clues through the insect world, the two friends work together to uncover the truth before even more crumbs disappear.
Wilder Boys

Brothers Jake and Taylor Wilder have learned to rely on each other as they grow up in a difficult home situation. When they uncover a dangerous secret and their mother is suddenly taken away in an ambulance, the boys fear they are no longer safe. Armed only with their father’s old letters and survival journal, they set out on a journey across the country to find him before danger catches up with them.
Magic Bone: Book 1

After being sent to the backyard for breaking a toy, an energetic sheepdog puppy named Sparky discovers a magical bone while digging. One bite transports him all the way to London, where he explores the city, makes new friends, and finds himself in a few tricky situations before trying to find his way back home.
Dead Sea Squirrels: Squirreled away

While visiting the archaeological dig where his father works near the Dead Sea, ten-year-old Michael discovers two squirrels that have been perfectly preserved in salt for 2,000 years. He secretly brings them home in his backpack, only to discover that these unusual souvenirs are far more extraordinary than he ever imagined. Filled with humor and adventure, the story also shares valuable lessons about character and friendship.
It Began with Lemonade

On a hot summer day, a determined young girl opens a lemonade stand, only to discover that everyone else in the neighborhood had the same idea. Searching for customers, she moves her stand to the river, where she finds an unexpected group of thirsty visitors eager to try her lemonade.
The Hole Story of the Doughnut

In 1843, fourteen-year-old Hanson Gregory leaves his home in Maine to work as a cabin boy aboard a sailing ship. During his adventures at sea, his creativity and problem-solving skills help inspire the creation of one of the world’s favorite pastries—the doughnut. This engaging story shares the surprising history behind the sweet treat.
